Import Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process and handle air and ocean import shipments, ensuring all documentation is accurate and properly sequenced
• Track customer bookings and shipments, providing timely updates regarding status or potential delays
• Manage the full billing cycle, including invoicing customers and reconciling payables with vendors and overseas offices
• Coordinate freight delivery by communicating with truckers and collecting proof of delivery (POD)
• Assist sales and management teams with compiling quotes and providing accurate job costing forecasts
• Ensure strict compliance with US customs laws, regulations, and company operating procedures
• Provide responsive and high-quality customer service to meet or exceed client requirements

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience handling air and/or ocean imports
• Strong working knowledge of Incoterms
• Comprehensive understanding of US customs laws, practices, and procedures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
• Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using CargoWise (C1)
• Knowledge of Importer Security Filing (ISF)
• Experience handling the full life cycle of import compliance and regulations
