About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support daily Immunohistochemistry laboratory operations, including specimen preparation and technical testing
  • Perform IHC techniques such as embedding, microtomy, tissue processing, reagent preparation, and antibody staining
  • Execute and document IHC quality control activities according to established laboratory procedures
  • Assist with IHC instrument maintenance, including daily setup, cleaning, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Analyze and troubleshoot equipment, staining, reagent, and workflow-related issues
  • Assist with antibody validation, optimization, and lot-to-lot validation
  • Maintain accurate quality control, quality assurance, and maintenance records
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, CAP/CLIA, NYS, and Joint Commission requirements
  • Work collaboratively with pathologists and team members to support patient care and turnaround times

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
  • NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or eligibility
  • Certified Histological Technologist license or eligibility
  • Knowledge of IHC instruments, antibodies, staining patterns, and antibody reactivity
  • Ability to perform accurate laboratory calculations and dilutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior professional experience in Histology and/or Immunohistochemistry
