Imagery Scientist (SAR) - Expert

Responsibilities

• Integrate emerging sensors and platforms into existing data pipelines and workflows
• Conduct assessments of new sensor characteristics compared to current platforms
• Assess metadata, data format, and data structure changes for databases, APIs, and ETL processes
• Determine data acquisition strategies, including latency, formats, and security domains
• Pre-process and standardize data for labeling and model development, including file conversion and tiling
• Investigate gaps in sensor capabilities and explore coincident imagery from other platforms
• Develop mathematical conversion models to transform data labels across imagery types
• Implement methods for tiling and pre-processing raw imagery while maintaining metadata integrity
• Generate tiles with precise geospatial boundaries and orthorectification

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI Clearance with ability to obtain CI/Poly
• 4+ years of experience as a SAR expert
• Understanding of SAR collection, phenomenology, and image formation processes
• Hands-on experience with SARPy and MATLAB SAR Toolbox
• Experience with imagery quality metrics (RNIIRS, ISLR, MNR)
• Experience exploiting SAR imagery to locate objects of interest
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and Google Earth Engine
• Deep understanding of remote sensing principles and sensor limitations
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience applying Computer Vision (CV) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques to SAR imagery
