Image Scientist

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical specialist for research, evaluation, and verification of complex image and video processing systems for geospatial intelligence sensors
• Provide expert-level consultation, problem solving, and verification for GEOINT quality assessments, studies, and standards
• Design, develop, evaluate, and verify the implementation of complex image processing software products, algorithms, and workflows
• Mentor and guide junior image scientists in developing testing criteria for algorithm and system cognitive performance
• Provide detailed recommendations and risk assessments to Government and technical leadership

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI with the ability to obtain a Poly
• Master's degree or PhD in Imaging Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a quantitative science field
• 10 years of experience as an Image Scientist
• Demonstrated knowledge of digital imaging systems principles and practices
• Experience supporting the development, testing, and analysis of image collection systems
• Experience applying engineering standards to solve complex problems associated with image product formation
• Experience with advanced photogrammetric techniques and principles
• Experience performing image system simulations to produce realistic test data
• Experience developing, assessing, and implementing Image Quality Equations
• Proficiency in Matlab, Python, C++, or equivalent programming languages
• Experience analyzing image data across various sensor types and phenomenology

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with imaging systems including PAN, IR, MSI/HSI, RADAR, and LIDAR
• Familiarity with GEOINT systems and exploitation software packages (ELTs, AGITK)
• Understanding of image quality standards such as NIIRS scales and metrics
• Strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle
