ICP Specialist

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and develop new ICP methods and procedures to address analytical anomalies and client requests
• Support Geochem operations throughout Africa
• Solve analytical problems regarding sample preparation, digestion, and instrumental troubleshooting
• Perform sample analysis using complex and novel analytical methods
• Train and verify competence of new staff members
• Provide technical support to ensure laboratory functions adhere to quality and safety guidelines
• Coordinate method development and validation
• Fulfill the role of Technical Manager as per SANAS ISO17025 requirements
• Manage sample routing, workflow improvements, and resource utilization
• Investigate customer complaints and provide technical solutions

Requirements

• BSc, M.Sc., or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of work experience in a testing environment
• Minimum 3 years of method development and validation experience
• Solid management or senior supervisory experience
• Strong understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 standards
• Expert working knowledge of the mining and minerals industry
• Proficiency with LIMS systems (SLIM)
• Advanced Microsoft software experience
• Valid driver's license and valid passport
• Ability to travel throughout Africa
