IC Development Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Industrial Coatings Development team to foster innovation and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the development of coating products tailored to specific markets, ensuring alignment with customer and company requirements.
• Manage the development team laboratory, ensuring it is suitably resourced, equipped, and maintains a safe working environment.
• Manage the development team budget and CAPEX investments.
• Support the professional development of Chemists through mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance.
• Ensure all products meet performance specifications and comply with relevant regulatory and legislative standards, including REACH.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Commercial, Procurement, Operations, Quality, and HSE departments.
• Represent the Industrial Coatings department in internal meetings and external engagements, such as customer visits and technical forums.

Requirements

• Degree in a science-based subject or equivalent.
• Extensive R&D experience within the coatings industry.
• Proven experience in team performance management and mentoring technical staff.
• Deep understanding of global regulatory and environmental compliance standards, specifically REACH.
• Experience in budget management, cost control, and CAPEX planning.
• Strong experience in HSE laboratory management within a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead products through stage-gated processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within a matrixed or global organization.
• Strong knowledge of coatings chemistry and industrial coatings development.
• Familiarity with product costing and commercial product management.
