Hydrant Painter

Responsibilities

• Apply paint to fire hydrants according to designated colors, patterns, and established standards
• Clean and prepare hydrant surfaces by removing dirt, rust, and other contaminants
• Repair minor surface imperfections to ensure a smooth finish
• Follow color-coding standards to differentiate hydrants based on function and water flow capacity
• Conduct visual inspections to identify signs of damage or deterioration
• Maintain detailed records of painting activities, including dates and locations
• Adhere to all safety regulations and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow and prioritize tasks

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• One year of experience as a physical laborer or in the construction field
• Valid State of Iowa Driver's License with a good driving record
• Physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks involving bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and sun

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum age of 21 years old
