HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance including adding coolant, changing belts, replacing air filters, and servicing equipment with lubricants and chemicals
• Work independently to investigate and perform general repairs on building air conditioning/heating systems and related mechanical equipment such as freezers and fans
• Recharge air conditioning systems with the proper amount of lubricant and refrigerant
• Install, replace, adjust, and calibrate major components of refrigeration units, including compressors, condensers, expansion valves, and thermostats
• Overhaul and repair pumps, motors, control systems, and piping
• Collaborate with advanced journeymen to troubleshoot and repair control systems
• Participate in on-call and emergency work as required by the department

Requirements

• Two years of experience or training in the installation and/or maintenance of heating, ventilating, or air conditioning systems
• Valid EPA Refrigerant Recycling and Recovery Certification (Section 608)
• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and climbing stairs
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug/alcohol testing
