HVAC/R Technician 1

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of air-conditioning equipment, including heat pumps, chillers, and cooling towers.
• Support the maintenance and repair of heating appliances such as natural gas furnaces, steam boilers, and radiant terminal units.
• Maintain campus ventilation systems, including air handling equipment, blowers, exhaust fans, and ductwork.
• Assist with the installation and modification of refrigeration, heating, and chilled water piping systems.
• Perform general maintenance tasks, including picking up parts, maintaining equipment, and operating snow/ice removal or grass cutting equipment.
• Charge, recover, and properly dispose of refrigerants in accordance with regulations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year of certifiable work experience or training in the HVAC/R field.
• Ability to obtain EPA Section 608 Universal Certification within one year of hire.
• Ability to perform very heavy physical work, including occasionally exerting 100 pounds of force.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three or more years of verifiable experience in the installation or service of commercial HVAC/R systems.
• Graduation from an accredited trade school or training program.
• Existing EPA Section 608 Type I and Type II certifications.
