HVAC Technician

Responsibilities

• Install, operate, maintain, repair, modify, and replace all types of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems and components in campus buildings
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, floor plans, and manufacturer specifications
• Maintain and repair air delivery equipment, including dampers, heating/cooling coils, and heat exchangers
• Operate, maintain, and install mechanical refrigeration systems
• Work on traditional and computerized control systems associated with HVAC delivery
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections, including lubricating fans, motors, and pumps, and changing filters and belts
• Test equipment for leaks and check gauges to ensure proper operation
• Respond to maintenance and repair requests from building occupants
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with safety and mechanical codes

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in HVAC or refrigeration equipment maintenance in a similar facility
• Valid driver's license in the State of Alabama
• Ability to move, lift, or carry up to and occasionally over 50 lbs
• Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances
• Knowledge of trade methods, materials, tools, equipment, and safety precautions

Preferred Qualifications

• Approved accredited post-secondary vocational or technical school diploma
