HVAC Technician 2nd Class

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building HVACR systems and equipment to optimize energy use and ensure a comfortable environment.
• Install HVACR units, including electronic, electrical, and mechanical components, as well as ductwork and tubing.
• Maintain and repair computerized electronic, pneumatic, and direct digital control (DDC) devices.
• Perform repairs on electrical equipment, oil and gas equipment, and refrigeration units such as refrigerators, freezers, and ice makers.
• Conserve, install, recycle, and reclaim refrigerants.
• Read and interpret complex blueprints, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Perform brazing, soldering, pipefitting, welding, and fabrication as required.
• Coordinate repairs with other trades and assist with campus event setups and breakdowns.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Formal HVACR training with documentation of successful completion.
• Current classification and successful performance as an HVAC Technician 3rd Class.
• Minimum of two years of service in the trade at Villanova University.
• Possession of personal hand tools required for the trade.
• Valid driver's license.
• Current ANSI/OSHA compliant training card for operating aerial lifts, bucket trucks, or forklifts.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and work in enclosed spaces.
• Ability to climb ladders, bend, reach, and crawl.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current OSHA 10 certification or higher.
• Proven ability to operate aerial/scissor lifts, bucket trucks, and forklifts.
