HVAC Technician 1st Class

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building HVACR equipment to optimize energy use and ensure a safe environment.
• Install HVACR units, including electronic, electrical, and mechanical components, as well as ductwork.
• Maintain and repair computerized electronic, pneumatic, and direct digital control (DDC) devices.
• Service electrical equipment, oil and gas equipment, refrigerators, freezers, and ice makers.
• Recover, recycle, and reclaim refrigerants in accordance with industry standards and protocols.
• Read and interpret complex blueprints, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Perform brazing, soldering, pipefitting, welding, and fabrication as required.
• Coordinate repairs with other trades and assist with campus event setups when necessary.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• EPA Universal/R410A license.
• Minimum of 5 years of HVACR trade experience.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet University driving privileges.
• Current ANSI/OSHA compliant training card for operating aerial lifts, bucket trucks, or forklifts.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, bend, reach, crawl, and lift up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to work in enclosed spaces.
• Must pass a timed 90-minute pre-qualification exam and a verbal panel interview.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current OSHA 10 certification or higher.
• Experience operating aerial/scissor lifts, bucket trucks, and forklifts.
