HVAC Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across campus.
• Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues.
• Plan and coordinate HVAC projects, including interpreting blueprints and estimating labor and materials.
• Inspect completed installations and repairs to ensure compliance with local building codes and safety regulations.
• Manage building management systems to ensure efficiency and accurate operations.
• Maintain accurate documentation for work orders, material usage, and EPA refrigerant tracking.
• Act as a primary onsite contact for clients to explain technical findings and repair recommendations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years of hands-on experience in the HVAC industry.
• Working knowledge of chilled water systems and steam heating systems.
• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS), including setting schedules and trends.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Vocational or technical training or a degree in HVAC Technology.
• NATE (North American Technician Excellence) Certification.
• 2nd Fireman License.
• Journeyman Refrigeration Technician license.
• Experience with Johnson Controls systems.
