HVAC Facilities Maintenance Specialist

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC-R systems and equipment within County buildings.
• Use complex diagnostic equipment to detect system failures or malfunctions.
• Maintain accurate records and work reports regarding all performed tasks.
• Design, engineer, and modify components for remodel projects within County buildings.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, and outside contractors to complete assigned projects.
• Provide guidance and training to other staff members within the HVAC-R trade.
• Assist other trades as needed, including emergency response, flood clean-up, and snow removal.
• Obtain competitive price quotes and purchase necessary supplies to maintain inventory.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Completion of an HVAC-R apprenticeship program leading to a Journey card or license.
• Two years of experience in building maintenance, construction, or an additional trade.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license.
• Ability to pass Sheriff's background clearance and CJIS requirements.
• Ability to respond to call-out emergencies and participate in periodic standby assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience interacting with the general public in a professional manner.
• Proficiency with specialized tools including ammeters, refrigeration gauges, electronic leak detectors, and vacuum pumps.
• Knowledge of pneumatic control devices and electrical voltage.
