About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC-R systems and equipment within County buildings.
- Use complex diagnostic equipment to detect system failures or malfunctions.
- Maintain accurate records and work reports regarding all performed tasks.
- Design, engineer, and modify components for remodel projects within County buildings.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and outside contractors to complete assigned projects.
- Provide guidance and training to other staff members within the HVAC-R trade.
- Assist other trades as needed, including emergency response, flood clean-up, and snow removal.
- Obtain competitive price quotes and purchase necessary supplies to maintain inventory.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Completion of an HVAC-R apprenticeship program leading to a Journey card or license.
- Two years of experience in building maintenance, construction, or an additional trade.
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license.
- Ability to pass Sheriff's background clearance and CJIS requirements.
- Ability to respond to call-out emergencies and participate in periodic standby assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience interacting with the general public in a professional manner.
- Proficiency with specialized tools including ammeters, refrigeration gauges, electronic leak detectors, and vacuum pumps.
- Knowledge of pneumatic control devices and electrical voltage.
