HVAC Engineering Staff Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Execute technical test runs on water-cooled and air-cooled commercial chillers
• Set up chillers with relevant instrumentation including flow meters and pressure sensors
• Monitor data acquisition systems and identify failures in PLCs, VFDs, or instrumentation
• Perform precision calibration of laboratory equipment for pressure, temperature, flow, and electrical measurements
• Manage and monitor support infrastructure such as boilers, cooling towers, and high-pressure pumping systems
• Maintain a zero-incident environment through strict adherence to arc flash and lockout tagout procedures

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 5+ years of experience servicing or maintaining commercial HVAC equipment
• EPA certification for refrigerant handling
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with 460V/3ph/60Hz machinery

Preferred Qualifications

• AS or AAS in Mechatronics Engineering Technology or a related technical field
• Experience in a laboratory environment managing high-power mechanical or electrical machinery
• Proficiency with LabView, LabPro, or National Instruments systems
• Experience with loop tuning and managing closed-loop system stability
• Comprehensive awareness of High Voltage and High Power electrical safety protocols
