HV Operations Manager

Responsibilities

• Oversee Control Room operations on the SPD distribution network to ensure reliable electricity delivery, system integrity, and safety.
• Lead and manage a team of Distribution Control Engineers, including first-line and second-line reports.
• Manage Control Room interfaces between Real Time Systems, outage planning, and external entities such as NESO and NGET.
• Develop policies and strategies for system restoration, emergency planning, and business continuity.
• Ensure business readiness for regulatory changes and emerging technologies like HVDC and DSO.
• Drive performance to maximize regulatory financial rewards (ENS, IIS, and BMCS) through improved processes and technical initiatives.
• Act as Duty Manager as required and participate in organizational change to improve service standards.

Requirements

• Engineering qualification in an electrical discipline (BSc, BEng, or HNC).
• Proven experience as a Control Engineer on an electricity Distribution or Transmission network, OR significant experience as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) on a Distribution/Transmission network.
• Strong people management and leadership skills with experience in a line management role.
• Knowledge of SCADA network management systems and network/business data.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Ability to devise solutions to complex technical and operational challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

• Broad operational experience spanning both Distribution and Transmission networks.
• Expert knowledge of DNO incentive arrangements and regulatory frameworks.
