HV Electrical Technician

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair high voltage equipment including power transformers, breakers, and switchgear
• Perform acceptance testing, commissioning, and diagnostics on HV equipment (Megger, TTR, Power factor, relay protection)
• Execute planned and emergency maintenance on distribution and transmission systems
• Interpret single line diagrams, protection and control schematics, and relay coordination studies
• Perform switching, isolation, grounding, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
• Mentor apprentices and junior technicians in HV procedures and safety practices
• Report, record, and process electrical test information

Requirements

• Valid 309A Electrical License (Powerline Technician preferred)
• 5–10+ years of experience in high voltage, utility, or substation work
• Experience with testing and commissioning HV equipment
• Knowledge of HV/MV Circuit Breaker Timing Tests
• Ability to interpret complex electrical schematics and relay logic
• Valid driver’s license with clean abstract and DZ License
• Working knowledge of Ontario Electrical Code (OEC) and Utility standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Auto-cad experience
• Utility or EPC project experience
