About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative oversight for human resource management, personnel, and payroll functions for the Campus Life division.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate HR programs, procedures, and standards to ensure consistent and equitable practices.
- Oversee personnel and payroll administration for over 400 appointments, including career, contract, student, and volunteer roles.
- Manage the approval process for all personnel and payroll actions in compliance with University and departmental policies.
- Provide training to managers and supervisors regarding recruitment, benefits, compensation, leave of absence, and progressive discipline.
- Analyze and make recommendations regarding departmental personnel and payroll policies.
- Monitor and produce reports on compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Oversee employee performance evaluations, salary increase processes, and incentive award programs.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of progressive experience in a Human Resources role.
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Demonstrated knowledge of organizational personnel and payroll principles and practices.
- Strong skills in financial analysis and planning, specifically regarding personnel cost projections.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Ability to handle confidential material with discretion and sensitivity.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective relationship management with staff, faculty, and students.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as an HR Generalist.
- Experience administering HR programs within a University setting.
- Working knowledge of University personnel policies and bargaining unit agreements (e.g., AFSCME, Teamsters, UPTE).
- Experience using University systems such as UCPath, UCTRS, Cognos, or PeopleAdmin.
- Knowledge of auditing principles and practices in a unionized environment.
