About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic advisor and primary point of guidance for senior leaders, managers, and employees regarding HR services.
  • Provide consultation on recruitment, including screening applicants, developing recruitment strategies, and managing the onboarding process.
  • Advise management on compensation matters, job descriptions, reclassifications, and promotions to ensure compliance with University policy and EEOC guidelines.
  • Support employees with benefits eligibility, retirement inquiries, and leave of absence processes (FMLA, CFRA, etc.).
  • Act as a coach for managers on employee relations, performance management, talent development, and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct HR investigations and handle grievances or disciplinary actions in accordance with applicable laws and University policies.
  • Facilitate the off-boarding process, including conducting exit interviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Two (2) years of work experience in Human Resources.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • Experience in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders through professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency with computer and software applications.
