About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the campus-wide compliance program for the protection of human participants in research.
- Coordinate all Institutional Review Board (IRB) activities, including administrative previews of applications.
- Manage, review, and approve all exempt-eligible human subject research and "Not Human Subject Research" determinations.
- Maintain the Federal Wide Assurance (FWA) and IRB registration.
- Administer the development, use, and maintenance of the IRBManager platform and CITI subscriptions.
- Coordinate orientation, training, and continuing education for IRB members and the broader research community.
- Develop, implement, and revise policies and procedures regarding human research protections.
- Supervise Graduate Assistants, including training, coaching, and performance evaluation.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of professional-level experience in human research protections within a university setting.
- Mandatory experience with Social, Behavioral, and Education Research (SBER) protections.
- Proficiency in applying federal regulations including OHRP, HIPAA, and FERPA.
- Master's degree in human research (e.g., Psychology, Sociology, Physical Therapy) or a concentration in applied ethics (e.g., Bioethics).
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant field.
- Certified IRB Professional (CIP®) credential.
- Experience with IRBManager software.
- Familiarity with site administration of the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI).
