About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering expertise and support for the HLS Computer-Human Interface (CHI) in domains including lighting, imagery, cameras, and controls
- Support the design, development, and testing of HLS lighting, imagery, camera, and crew-vehicle control subsystems
- Manage CHI imagery and lighting requirements, including requirement decomposition and technical assessments
- Perform integrated analysis of CHI subsystem hardware and its interactions with other HLS systems and the operational environment
- Identify, document, and communicate CHI technical risks and implement mitigation strategies throughout the development lifecycle
- Facilitate communication and coordination with NASA Subject Matter Experts and other CHI-adjacent NASA programs
- Prepare and deliver technical briefings, progress updates, and schedule status to management and external partners
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field
- 2-5 years of experience in engineering or a related field
- Experience with the design, development, integration, and testing of avionics systems
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in engineering or systems engineering
- Knowledge of spaceflight hardware, subsystems, and human-rated space vehicle design and certification
- Experience with spacecraft/satellite lighting, imagery, cameras, and/or controls
- Knowledge of NASA Systems Engineering and Design Review processes
- Experience using AI tools (e.g., CoPilot, Gemini, Grok)
