HSES Specialist

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and tactical leadership in developing and implementing Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security (HSES) programs.
• Ensure compliance with EPA, NCDEQ, OSHA, and Lubrizol standards and policies.
• Lead hazard assessment activities, including safety inspections, investigations, industrial hygiene surveys, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
• Maintain and update site safety processes such as lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and hot work.
• Provide technical support and training to plant personnel regarding HSES regulations.
• Interface with government agencies and the public on environmental matters.
• Assist with the preparation of environmental permits and routine/non-routine submittals.
• Participate in the site emergency response team during training, drills, and actual emergencies.
• Support the facility’s compliance with RC14001 and assist with site security programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 1+ years of experience working in an industrial environment.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and multi-tasking skills.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting abilities combined with high attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant BCSP Certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, GSP, CHMM, OHST, CSHM, STS).
