HSE Specialist

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) programs, risk registers, and management system components
• Conduct risk assessments, job hazard assessments, and in-field observations to identify non-compliance or areas for improvement
• Perform compliance monitoring and auditing on project activities to ensure adherence to safety regulations and corporate requirements
• Review contractor OHS programs and plans during tender and selection processes
• Prepare detailed reports on compliance, incidents, and root-cause analyses, following up on recommended corrective actions
• Support ESG reporting initiatives and maintain subscriptions to safety and sustainability portals
• Collaborate with project teams, site supervisors, and contractors to resolve OHS compliance gaps

Requirements

• 3-5 years of OHS experience in construction, civil, or environmental remediation projects
• College diploma or university degree in OHS or a related field
• Knowledge of lithium-ion battery and high voltage electrical safety
• Experience conducting risk assessments and hazard assessments (JHA/JSA, SWMS)
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, 45001, and 14001
• OSHA 30-hour training or the relevant regional equivalent
• Ability to travel extensively within the assigned region, including overnight and weekend work

Preferred Qualifications

• CRSP or CMIOSH designations
• Experience with root-cause analysis tools (ACA, RCA)
• Knowledge of working at heights, fall protection, and WHMIS
• Experience with ESG and sustainability reporting
