About the role

Responsibilities

  • Ensure fulfillment of HSE requirements at construction sites in compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and government regulations
  • Support the Site Manager in implementing HSE management and safety instructions for workers and partners
  • Act as the main local liaison with customer HSE organizations and provincial regulatory agencies
  • Prepare weekly and monthly HSE statistical reports
  • Assist in risk identification and the definition of control measures through Job Safety Analysis and safe work procedures
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, checks, and tool-box talks
  • Record and investigate accidents and incidents using Root Cause Analysis
  • Coordinate site safety training, first aid responders, and fire protection programs
  • Support internal and external audits to maintain OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, and COR programs

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of HSE management experience on a construction site or in heavy industries
  • University degree in Health and Safety or an equivalent field
  • Strong knowledge of Provincial Construction Safety legislation
  • Experience working within unionized environments
  • Proven auditor and trainer skills
  • Expertise in root cause analysis and problem-solving
  • Ability to travel and flexibility with work schedules
  • Legal status to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working on construction sites, specifically hydropower plants
