HSE Officer

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements on the construction site in accordance with company standards, client requirements, and government regulations
• Support the Site Manager in HSE management and the implementation of safety instructions for workers and partners
• Act as the primary point of contact for the client's HSE organization and provincial regulatory bodies
• Prepare weekly and monthly HSE statistical reports
• Participate in risk identification and the definition of control measures through safe work procedures and risk analyses
• Conduct and document regular safety controls and HSE inspections
• Investigate and document accidents and incidents, performing root cause analysis
• Coordinate HSE training, first aid programs, and fire protection activities
• Maintain OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, and COR certifications on-site

Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years of HSE management experience in construction sites or heavy industry
• University degree in Health and Safety or an equivalent field
• Strong knowledge of Canadian occupational health and safety legislation within the construction sector
• Experience working within unionized environments
• Proven leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Willingness to travel and flexibility regarding work schedules
• Legal status to work in Canada is required
