About the role
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements on the construction site in accordance with company standards, client requirements, and government regulations
- Support the Site Manager in HSE management and the implementation of safety instructions for workers and partners
- Act as the primary point of contact for the client's HSE organization and provincial regulatory bodies
- Prepare weekly and monthly HSE statistical reports
- Participate in risk identification and the definition of control measures through safe work procedures and risk analyses
- Conduct and document regular safety controls and HSE inspections
- Investigate and document accidents and incidents, performing root cause analysis
- Coordinate HSE training, first aid programs, and fire protection activities
- Maintain OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, and COR certifications on-site
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of HSE management experience in construction sites or heavy industry
- University degree in Health and Safety or an equivalent field
- Strong knowledge of Canadian occupational health and safety legislation within the construction sector
- Experience working within unionized environments
- Proven leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel and flexibility regarding work schedules
- Legal status to work in Canada is required
