About the role
Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems for the Kirchlengern (70%) and Wuppertal (30%) locations
- Implement Sherwin-Williams policies, records, and reports in close collaboration with site management
- Partner with regional and corporate EHS colleagues to ensure alignment
- Take responsibility for site compliance regarding accident prevention legislation (Störfallrecht)
- Oversee occupational hygiene monitoring and support occupational medical prevention
- Promote a continuous safety culture through efficient EHS communication with employees
- Act as the primary contact for external authorities, consultants, associations, and auditors
- Conduct process hazard assessments, including HAZID and HAZOP
- Ensure proper emergency management and response protocols are in place
Requirements
- University degree in safety technology, engineering, environmental sciences, or an equivalent qualification
- Certification as a safety specialist (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit), ideally through BG RCI
- Multi-year experience in EHS program management
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, laws, and standards within the chemical industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Fluency in both German and English
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of explosion protection (Explosionsschutz)
- Experience with accident prevention legislation (Störfallrecht)
