About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide client services for emergency utility and rental assistance programs to support housing stability
- Complete applications for financial assistance, verify documentation, and assess eligibility
- Advocate and coordinate with community agencies, landlords, and social service resources on behalf of clients
- Maintain accurate client files, databases, and Excel spreadsheets
- Assist in the collection and compilation of program data and statistics
- Perform outreach and provide referrals to meet clients' emotional, spiritual, and physical needs
- Adhere to all health, safety, and confidentiality standards and policies
Requirements
- University degree or two-year college diploma in Business Administration or Social Services
- Experience working with diverse populations, including those facing mental health or addiction challenges
- Sound knowledge of community resources for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Access)
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to communicate in English and another language
- Certification in First Aid/CPR or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- Understanding of Ontario Works, ODSP, and the Residential Tenancies Act
