About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own the full employee lifecycle including performance management, promotions, and offboarding
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers regarding HR policies and workplace concerns
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, the employee handbook, and scalable HR processes
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws
  • Manage employee relations issues, investigations, and separations with discretion
  • Administer benefits programs and support compensation planning and equity programs
  • Manage HR systems (HRIS, payroll coordination, and performance tools)
  • Coordinate export control-related onboarding processes (ITAR/EAR) in partnership with legal counsel
  • Manage immigration processes and work authorizations in coordination with outside counsel

Requirements

  • 5+ years of HR or People Operations experience, ideally in a startup or growth-stage company
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • Experience working in a regulated environment, including exposure to export controls (ITAR/EAR) and/or immigration processes
  • Experience handling sensitive employee relations matters with professionalism
  • Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a hands-on capacity
  • Excellent communication, judgment, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR, or similar certification
  • Experience in tech, engineering, or high-growth environments
  • Experience supporting distributed or multi-state teams
