About the role

Responsibilities

  • Initiate HR transactions in Workday and VCH systems, including hires, job changes, terminations, and position creations
  • Process staff, student, and faculty appointments, re-appointments, and timesheets
  • Maintain data integrity within UBC and VCH HR systems regarding demographics, salary, and job descriptions
  • Provide general information on attendance, short-term absences, and routine policy interpretations
  • Reconcile staff records for vacation, sick leave, and overtime, and prepare HR reports for leadership
  • Support recruitment and selection processes by posting opportunities, scheduling interviews, and maintaining files
  • Assist with the onboarding process by verifying identification and sharing relevant resources with new hires
  • Troubleshoot payroll and Workday issues in coordination with Payroll and UBC HR departments
  • Maintain confidential electronic and paper employee records

Requirements

  • High School graduation
  • One year of post-secondary education
  • Three years of related experience
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR diploma or certificate
  • Experience with UBC systems, policies, and procedures
  • Experience using PeopleSoft or other Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
