About the role
Responsibilities
- Initiate HR transactions in Workday and VCH systems, including hires, job changes, terminations, and position creations
- Process staff, student, and faculty appointments, re-appointments, and timesheets
- Maintain data integrity within UBC and VCH HR systems regarding demographics, salary, and job descriptions
- Provide general information on attendance, short-term absences, and routine policy interpretations
- Reconcile staff records for vacation, sick leave, and overtime, and prepare HR reports for leadership
- Support recruitment and selection processes by posting opportunities, scheduling interviews, and maintaining files
- Assist with the onboarding process by verifying identification and sharing relevant resources with new hires
- Troubleshoot payroll and Workday issues in coordination with Payroll and UBC HR departments
- Maintain confidential electronic and paper employee records
Requirements
- High School graduation
- One year of post-secondary education
- Three years of related experience
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- HR diploma or certificate
- Experience with UBC systems, policies, and procedures
- Experience using PeopleSoft or other Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
