HPC Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and manage a performant, reliable, and secure high-performance computing (HPC) environment
• Establish support strategies for a portfolio including 4 supercomputers and large parallel file systems
• Evaluate new hardware and software to determine benefits for scientific computing and seismic imaging
• Perform software installations and operating system upgrades in a world-class HPC environment
• Monitor system health and performance, partnering with third-party vendors for hardware support
• Manage large-scale data environments, including 140+ Petabytes of parallel filesystem
• Provide advanced technical consulting to users to resolve complex problems
• Collaborate with globally distributed technical teams and business customers

Requirements

• B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on Linux experience (e.g., RHEL, CentOS) and production infrastructure support
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with HPC technologies including installation, configuration, and maintenance
• Knowledge of parallel/distributed file systems such as Lustre or GPFS
• Knowledge of high-speed interconnect fabrics such as Infiniband or Omni-Path
• Experience with HPC batch scheduling software suites like PBSPro or SLURM
• Solid understanding of data center operations, including networking, cooling, and power

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong IT skills in infrastructure and applications
• Experience supporting large-scale production environments
• Experience implementing changes and security controls within a global framework
• Knowledge of installing and compiling vendor and open-source software
• Experience with application/infrastructure deployment in major cloud environments
