HPC Operations Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line operational support for 24/7 Linux HPC compute, storage, and interconnects.
• Solve problem reports and questions from the research community, managing the entire problem lifecycle.
• Respond to system alerts in a timely fashion and participate in an on-call rotation.
• Participate in large, coordinated maintenance operations, including evenings and weekends.
• Write code to diagnose, resolve, and triage difficult problems and automate frequently performed tasks.
• Implement and support performance and fault monitoring systems.
• Develop and improve systems and user documentation.
• Manage relationships with outside vendors and collaborate across global infrastructure teams.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional experience with Linux systems.
• High proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Go, Python, or C).
• Strong root cause analysis skills.
• Ability to work from the company office an average of 5 days a week.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and work maintenance windows (Friday evenings or Saturday mornings) on a rotational basis.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
• Experience with parallel filesystems (e.g., Lustre, GPFS).
• Experience with batch systems (e.g., Slurm, Grid Engine).
• Experience with high-performance network interconnects and RDMA fabrics.
