HPC Operations Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line operational support for 24/7 Linux HPC compute, storage, and interconnects
• Solve problem reports and questions from the research community, managing the entire problem lifecycle
• Respond to system alerts in a timely fashion and participate in coordinated maintenance operations
• Write code to diagnose, resolve, and triage difficult problems and automate frequently performed tasks
• Implement and support performance and fault monitoring systems
• Develop and improve systems and user documentation
• Participate in an on-call rotation and work from the office an average of 5 days a week

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional experience with Linux systems administration
• High proficiency with at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Go, Python, or C)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a busy, open floor plan office environment
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and perform maintenance during evenings or weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) environments
• Familiarity with parallel filesystems (e.g., Lustre, GPFS)
• Experience with batch systems (e.g., Slurm, Grid Engine)
• Experience with high-performance network interconnects
