About the role
Responsibilities
- Engage and develop partnerships with landlords and property managers to expand housing options
- Negotiate rental agreements and conduct housing inspections to ensure quality and compliance
- Act as a housing advocate for Veteran households by matching client needs with available properties
- Provide tenancy support, including education on housing retention, rights, and life skills
- Maintain accurate client records and databases, including HMIS and income certifications
- Coordinate eviction prevention services and conduct regular home visits to ensure housing stability
- Assist with client intake, initial assessments, and connecting participants to basic needs
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in Social Services preferred)
- Valid California driver license and a reliable personal vehicle for field work
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work in stressful situations
- Ability to maintain professional conduct and adhere to confidentiality and HIPAA standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing direct support services to individuals experiencing homelessness or mental health issues
- Background in real estate, property management, or housing support
- Experience using the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)
- CPR/First Aid certification
