About the role

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between landlords, property managers, and Veteran households to facilitate housing placement and retention
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with property managers and landlords within the service area
  • Negotiate rental agreements, conduct housing inspections, and assist participants with lease reviews and move-ins
  • Monitor local rental markets, including rental rates, supply, and demand
  • Provide individual and group education regarding housing retention, tenancy skills, and financial management
  • Coordinate eviction prevention services and conduct regular home visits to ensure housing stability
  • Maintain accurate client records and data entry within the HMIS database
  • Assist with client intake, initial assessments, and the collection of income certifications

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid California driver license and a reliable personal vehicle for frequent field travel
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct and interact effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to pass a criminal records clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Services or a related field
  • 1 year of experience in direct support services (homelessness, mental health, or substance abuse)
  • 1 year of experience in real estate, property management, or housing support
  • Experience using the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)
