About the role
Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between landlords, property managers, and Veteran households to facilitate housing placement and retention
- Develop and maintain partnerships with property managers and landlords within the service area
- Negotiate rental agreements, conduct housing inspections, and assist participants with lease reviews and move-ins
- Monitor local rental markets, including rental rates, supply, and demand
- Provide individual and group education regarding housing retention, tenancy skills, and financial management
- Coordinate eviction prevention services and conduct regular home visits to ensure housing stability
- Maintain accurate client records and data entry within the HMIS database
- Assist with client intake, initial assessments, and the collection of income certifications
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid California driver license and a reliable personal vehicle for frequent field travel
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
- Ability to maintain professional conduct and interact effectively with diverse populations
- Ability to pass a criminal records clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Services or a related field
- 1 year of experience in direct support services (homelessness, mental health, or substance abuse)
- 1 year of experience in real estate, property management, or housing support
- Experience using the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)
