About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and mopping in common areas and resident rooms
  • Process, sort, and wash residents' personal laundry
  • Collect and dispose of garbage and restock supplies in washrooms
  • Clean ceilings, walls, floors, carpets, light fixtures, furniture, and interior windows
  • Report equipment and furnishing maintenance needs to the Maintenance Worker
  • Perform specialized cleaning tasks and maintain cleaning equipment and accessories

Requirements

  • Grade 10 education or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year of experience in housekeeping
  • Experience working in a long-term care or similar environment
  • Knowledge of WHMIS guidelines
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to pass a vulnerable sector screening and background check
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with elderly residents
