Housekeeper I

Responsibilities

• Perform general housekeeping duties in residence halls, academic, athletic, and administrative buildings
• Clean and maintain floors, carpets, walls, and stairwells using appropriate chemicals and equipment
• Empty and spot clean waste and recycling receptacles, including liner replacement
• Dust, clean, and polish building surfaces, shelves, HVAC vents, cabinets, and furniture
• Clean and disinfect bathroom fixtures including toilets, showers, water fountains, and partitions
• Wash interior and exterior windows and replenish bathroom supplies
• Assist with the set-up and teardown of campus events and activities
• Report broken, nonfunctional, or damaged items to the supervisor or Facilities Services office

Requirements

• High school education or GED
• Ability to follow safety precautions regarding cleaning chemicals and motorized equipment
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive motions such as mopping, vacuuming, and scrubbing
• Ability to climb stairs and stand for the duration of a work shift
• Effective English communication skills (written and oral)

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of institutional housekeeping experience
