About the role
Responsibilities
- Monitor the environment and residents to ensure safety and security through regular status checks and room searches
- Maintain and update all appropriate documentation, including incident log books and client records
- Coordinate and facilitate resident programming and provide orientation to new staff or volunteers
- Perform intake and discharge procedures for clients/residents as assigned
- Intervene in crisis situations, provide emotional support, and advocate for residents
- Maintain facility cleanliness by cleaning shelter rooms, washrooms, kitchens, and common areas
- Provide laundry services and perform basic building maintenance
- Liaise with police, community agencies, funders, and families to support resident needs
Requirements
- High School completion
- Social services Diploma, or a related Diploma or Degree
- Minimum of one year of experience in frontline social service work
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40lbs
- Ability to successfully pass a background check, including the Salvation Army Abuse Registry
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and manage stressful situations involving crisis intervention
