About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement hotel sales strategies to increase occupancy and revenue
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international travel agents, tour operators, DMCs, and luxury travel partners
- Increase agent business share from key markets such as the USA, UK, Germany, and South Africa
- Plan and attend trade shows, roadshows, agent events, webinars, and sales trips to generate new business
- Arrange and manage site inspections, educational visits, and familiarization trips for agents and media
- Ensure regular product training for travel agents and sales partners
- Identify new markets and sales channels to support hotel occupancy
- Manage group inquiries, exclusive use bookings, and special events until handover to the operational team
- Collaborate with the Revenue team to focus sales activities on periods requiring additional occupancy
- Monitor and report on sales activities, new business, agent production, and conversion rates
- Develop annual sales plans for key markets and partners
- Conduct competitor analysis and track market trends within the luxury travel and hospitality industry
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Hotel Management, Tourism, Marketing, Business Management, or a related field
- Minimum five years of experience in hotel sales, luxury hospitality, or tourism sales
- Proven experience managing travel agent and tour operator relationships
- Experience in developing and implementing sales strategies to increase revenue and occupancy
- Experience with group bookings, exclusive use, and high-value guests
- Experience with CRM and hotel booking systems
- Strong sales, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Good financial and commercial insight with ability to analyze sales data and trends
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills
- Proficiency in Afrikaans and English (spoken and written)
- Ability to work outside normal hours, including weekends and public holidays when required
