Hotel Chief Engineer

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of all engineering systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical
• Lead, schedule, and support the engineering team to ensure high standards of work and effective coverage
• Manage and implement preventative maintenance programs for equipment, guest rooms, and public areas
• Respond swiftly to maintenance requests or emergencies to minimize disruption to guests
• Collaborate with department heads to support operational needs and seamless service delivery
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental standards, and legal requirements
• Manage contractors, service providers, and external inspections
• Monitor and optimize energy use, utilities, and maintenance budgets
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and assist with capital planning

Requirements

• Senior engineering or maintenance experience, ideally within the hospitality or hotel industry
• Proven team management and leadership skills
• Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
• Exceptional troubleshooting expertise and the ability to think on your feet
• Highly organized with the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Thorough understanding of maintenance tools, documentation, and compliance standards
