Hospitalist Support Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily patient assignments, including overnight and pending admissions, to ensure balanced workloads.
• Manage and enter physician and resident schedules and admission rotations into the electronic system.
• Act as the primary point of contact for schedule adjustments and patient assignment updates.
• Support patient satisfaction by conducting call-backs, responding to inquiries, and confirming appointments.
• Assist with prior authorizations, pharmacy inquiries, referrals, and related documentation in collaboration with clinical staff.
• Maintain department supplies, inventory, and physician materials such as prescription pads and business cards.
• Prepare monthly patient metric reports and meeting documentation, including agendas and minutes.
• Serve as the department Safety Champion by conducting inspections and documenting compliance.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and onboarding documentation.

Requirements

• Associates degree or two years of additional healthcare experience in lieu of a degree.
• Five years of experience working in a healthcare setting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
• Ability to remain flexible and adapt to unexpected changes in work volume.
