About the role
Responsibilities
- Coordinate all aspects of hospital cases for the Special Care Clinic, including scheduling operating room cases and OR screenings.
- Assist students and faculty in clinical aspects of patient care, including four-handed dentistry and assisting surgeons during operations.
- Manage patient documentation, including retrieving/dispensing charts, filing x-rays, and preparing legal conservatorship and consent forms.
- Handle preauthorization submittals and track approvals with primary healthcare coverage.
- Maintain and sterilize dental instruments and manage hospital/dental inventory and supplies.
- Provide care for individuals with moderate to severe medical and developmental conditions.
- Explain clinic policies, procedures, and financial obligations to patients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current RDA license.
- Current California x-ray license.
- Current CPR certification.
- Minimum of one year of dental office experience, including chairside assisting.
- Minimum of one year of hospital dentistry experience.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, sterilization/infection control, and basic Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Medi-Cal billing.
- Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant or Oral Surgery Assistant certification.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to maintain professional composure in a fast-paced environment.
