About the role

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of hospital cases for the Special Care Clinic, including scheduling operating room cases and OR screenings.
  • Assist students and faculty in clinical aspects of patient care, including four-handed dentistry and assisting surgeons during operations.
  • Manage patient documentation, including retrieving/dispensing charts, filing x-rays, and preparing legal conservatorship and consent forms.
  • Handle preauthorization submittals and track approvals with primary healthcare coverage.
  • Maintain and sterilize dental instruments and manage hospital/dental inventory and supplies.
  • Provide care for individuals with moderate to severe medical and developmental conditions.
  • Explain clinic policies, procedures, and financial obligations to patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current RDA license.
  • Current California x-ray license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Minimum of one year of dental office experience, including chairside assisting.
  • Minimum of one year of hospital dentistry experience.
  • Proficiency in dental terminology, sterilization/infection control, and basic Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Medi-Cal billing.
  • Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant or Oral Surgery Assistant certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to maintain professional composure in a fast-paced environment.
