Hospital Assistant/Porter

Responsibilities

• Transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to various hospital locations for tests and procedures
• Assist in transferring patients between beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs under clinical direction
• Respond to medical distress or resuscitation calls with specialized equipment
• Pick up and deliver specimens, blood products, supplies, and equipment
• Use mobile devices to manage and complete assigned tasks
• Monitor and replenish medical supplies
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including the use of PPE
• Clean and disinfect patient handling equipment using approved chemicals

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3 to 6 months of practical related experience or on-the-job training
• Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
• Ability to perform physical tasks including pushing/pulling patients and equipment over 20 kg
• Knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health & Safety Act
• Ability to work flexible shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
