Hospice Volunteer

Responsibilities

• Serve as an integral member of the interdisciplinary group in home care, respite, inpatient, bereavement, and administrative settings
• Provide patient and family support under the guidance of the Volunteer Coordinator and Case Manager
• Perform homemaker chores, run errands, and provide respite care as a substitute family/caregiver
• Document activities as instructed while maintaining confidentiality
• Meet all health requirements set by Luminary Hospice
• Maintain regular availability aligned with patient and family needs
• Participate in volunteer support groups, educational in-services, and interdisciplinary meetings
• Participate in quality assessment and performance improvement activities

Requirements

• Mature individual supportive of the hospice concept
• Comfortable with spirituality and willing to serve others in a volunteer capacity
• Successful completion of the hospice volunteer training and orientation program
• Licensed driver with an insured automobile in good working order for home visits
• Ability to work within an interdisciplinary group
