About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care including bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, dressing, and linen changes
- Assist with feeding, meal preparation, and light laundry as assigned
- Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) when ordered
- Assist with ambulation, exercise, range of motion, transfers, and positioning
- Provide skin care and observe for signs of tissue breakdown over bony areas
- Assist with self-administered medications and safe use of equipment such as O2 and side rails
- Maintain a clean, orderly patient living environment
- Observe and report patient condition changes and significant observations to the Case Manager
- Provide respite and emotional support for patients, families, and caregivers
- Document care provided and participate in quality improvement activities
Requirements
- Active STNA or CNA certification in Ohio
- Completion of minimum 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training
- At least 18 years of age with ability to read, follow instructions, and document care
- Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfort providing care to terminally ill patients
- Current CPR certification
- Valid driver's license and insured automobile in good working order
- Satisfactory employment references
- Self-directing with ability to work with minimal supervision and remain calm in patient homes
- Physical ability to frequently sit/stand and lift up to 50 pounds
