Hospice Aide

Responsibilities

• Perform personal care including baths, oral hygiene, shampoos, and linen changes
• Assist with dressing, feeding, and nutritious meal preparation as assigned
• Take and record oral, rectal, and auxiliary temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure when ordered
• Assist with ambulation, exercise, and range-of-motion activities as directed
• Observe patient condition and report significant changes to the Case Manager
• Maintain patient safety and proper use of equipment such as side rails and O2
• Keep the patient's living area clean and orderly
• Provide respite for family and caregivers when on-site
• Document observations and care performed according to organization standards

Requirements

• Active STNA or CNA certification in the state of Texas
• Completion of a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training
• At least 18 years of age
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license with an insured automobile in good working order
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given
• Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfort providing care to the terminally ill
• Satisfactory references from previous employers
