About the role
Responsibilities
- Operate power equipment including riding mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, and hedge trimmers to maintain campus grounds
- Support arboriculture services through limb chipping, debris hauling, light chainsaw work, and pruning
- Apply chemicals for weed and pest control, fertilize soils, and apply mulch to beds
- Maintain interior plants through watering, pruning, fertilizing, and disease treatment
- Perform landscape tasks such as planting, sod laying, weeding, digging, and grading
- Assist with irrigation work, drain basin cleaning, and concrete repair labor
- Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on mobile equipment and vehicles
Requirements
- One year of experience or training in farming, groundskeeping, or the care of trees and shrubs, OR six semester hours in a plant science or landscape field of study
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, including overtime and weekend work
- Ability to stoop, kneel, and bend for extended periods
