Horticultural Attendant (Lawn Care)

Responsibilities

• Operate power equipment including riding mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, and hedge trimmers to maintain grounds, sidewalks, and plazas.
• Support arboriculture services through limb chipping, debris hauling, light chainsaw work, and pruning.
• Apply chemicals for weed and pest control, fertilize soils, and apply mulch to beds and tree canopies.
• Maintain ornamental and interior plants through watering, pruning, fertilizing, and disease treatment.
• Perform general grounds maintenance such as litter removal, weeding, planting, sod laying, and mulching.
• Assist with irrigation work, digging, grading, and drain basin cleaning.
• Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on mobile equipment and vehicles, including changing blades and tires.
• Assist with storm debris cleanup and special event setup/cleanup.

Requirements

• One year of experience or training in farming, groundskeeping, or the care of trees and shrubs; OR six semester hours in a plant science or landscape field of study.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, and bending for extended periods.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, including adverse weather.
• Availability to work overtime and weekends as required.
