Horticultural Attendant Foreman

Responsibilities

• Direct and lead crews in the maintenance of LSU grounds, including sidewalks, plazas, and building perimeters.
• Operate various power equipment such as riding mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, and chainsaws.
• Perform horticultural tasks including plant identification, pruning, chemical application for weed and pest control, and fertilizing.
• Assist with arboriculture services, including limb chipping, debris hauling, and light chainsaw work.
• Manage landscape aesthetics through mulching, sod laying, weeding, and flower planting.
• Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on mobile equipment and vehicles.
• Support special campus events with litter control and site cleanup.

Requirements

• Three years of experience in farming, groundskeeping, or the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs; OR 18 semester hours in a plant science or landscape field of study.
• Valid Louisiana Class E License.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, kneeling, bending, and reaching overhead.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, including adverse weather.
• Availability to work overtime and weekends as required.
