Horticultural Attendant- Foreman

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct crews in maintaining LSU grounds, including sidewalks, plazas, and building perimeters.
• Operate power equipment such as riding mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, and hedge trimmers.
• Perform arboriculture support tasks including limb chipping, light chainsaw work, pruning, and debris removal.
• Manage chemical applications for weed control, pest management, and soil fertilization.
• Oversee plant care including ornamental planting, mulching, irrigation assistance, and interior plant maintenance.
• Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on mobile equipment and vehicles.
• Direct the daily activities of two or more crews of Horticultural Attendants and operators.

Requirements

• Three years of experience in farming, groundskeeping, or the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs; OR 18 semester hours in a plant science or landscape field of study.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, and bending.
• Knowledge of plant identification and experience with chemical application.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and perform overtime or weekend work as needed.
