Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Operator

Responsibilities

• Safely operate the directional drill for the installation of underground utilities
• Operate directional drills in residential areas
• Perform basic maintenance and safe operation of organization equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints, stakes, and signage
• Coordinate daily equipment activities with drivers and operators
• Perform and log pre-operation safety inspections, including fueling and greasing
• Perform general labour duties as required

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience operating Horizontal Directional Drill Rigs (specifically Vermeer D20 x 22 Series 3 or Vermeer 24X40)
• High School diploma
• Class 1 or 3 driver's license with Air Brakes
• Valid Alberta Driver's License with a clean 3-year driving abstract
• Valid CSTS/Ground Disturbance ticket
• Physical fitness and stamina for manual labour in various weather conditions
• Willingness to travel out of town if required

Preferred Qualifications

• Confined Space Awareness/Rescue certification
• Fall Arrest certification
• WHMIS certification
• First Aid certification
